Sure enough the advancement of technology information has lead to many people depending solely on internet as source of information. Large companies or corporations use internet together with social network as a source to reach the customer or client to promote their product or service. Thus it is normal for us to see online coupons, vouchers and many others being shared by these corporate giants as a token of appreciation to the customers.
But HOW TRUE are these offers? Can they be trusted? How to know whether they are legitimate or not? Or could they be just a method for irresponsible person to spread virus or spam your account.
Latest so-called-promotion : "Get A McVoucher ( Limited Offer )" is going around now in http://facebook.com by claiming it to be a token of appreciation from McDonalds as it has gained a whooping $50 billion in profit.. Whoohhoo.. I hope they had given me a free share in the company to me instead of just giving McVoucher.
Anyway this promotion is FAKE!! How to know?
1) First of all it can be easily identified as fake by looking at the organiser
Common guys, a big give away from McDonald organised by a page called MacGift with only 59 people like it? This is crap.
2) Secondly if I am the owner of McDonalds is not a charity house to give each person $150 voucher just because you KINDly invited 500 friends.
3) Thirdly, even if they plan to give you the vouchers, putting you to answer the survey questions before you get the voucher, that's plainly ridiculous. Well, McD can't be that cheap you see.. This is clearly some irresponsible human's deed who plan to earn money through completed surveys by innocent victims.
4) And yeah even if you managed to go through the survey part, and reach the voucher, I wish you good luck to use it at any McDonalds nationwide. :)

5) And lastly, McDonalds could be giving out real vouchers, but not through events like this, look out for them in their real page. They'll be posting out regularly there. McDonalds Malaysia
The next time you come across this kind offer, please think logically if they are real before you decide to invite your friends. You are lucky if it's just survey spam like this one, but REMEMBER, you are a goner if it is website that downloads trojan virus to your computer..

ReplyDeleteYou did a good job. For your information, the event I screen captured above is not the only event going on rounds. There are a few similar events going around in FB at the moment. Just ignore all.

ReplyDeleteHi friend, as much as I am aware of, for this particular scam, there is nothing for you to get off from your computer. It does not download any virus or such to your computer. If you come across this invitation, just ignore it and spread words to your friends that it is a fake event. :)
